Activities in Bangkok

Things you do, not watch — most run daily, no booking calendar needed.

Aerobics in Lumphini Park — around 18:00 the plaza fills, a sound system goes up and an instructor leads open-air aerobics to hard synthpop. Anyone can join, nobody charges, nobody is watching you. Bangkok's most joyful free activity.
Run at Benchakitti — a former tobacco factory rebuilt in 2022 as 72 hectares of wetland forest, with elevated walkways over the reeds and a 1.3 km green skywalk to Lumphini. Run 06:00–08:00 or after 17:00; you can loop both parks without crossing a road. Full guide →
Aerobic dance in the parks — every evening around 18:00 a Bangkok park becomes an open-air dance floor: instructor, sound system, several hundred strangers, no fee. Full guide →
City run at Benchakitti — skywalks above wetland, plus a 1.3 km green trail to Lumphini so you can loop two parks without crossing a road. Full guide →
Cooking class — the good ones start at a wet market: you pick the herbs, learn why holy basil isn't sweet basil, then cook 3–4 dishes and eat them. Half a day, typically 1,000–2,500฿.
Muay Thai class — every neighbourhood has a gym that takes beginners, usually 400–700฿ for 1–2 hours including wraps. You learn the wai khru ritual before you learn to throw anything. Watch a round at Rajadamnern afterwards.
Gem identification class — GIT and AIGS, both in the Silom gem district, run short courses from one-day introductions to professional identification. You leave able to use a loupe — and much harder to cheat.
Cycle the Green Lung — Bang Krachao, a jungle island in the river's loop: elevated bike paths over swamp, a floating market on weekends, ten minutes by longtail from the city. Rent bikes at the pier.
Khlong longtail circuit — Charter a longtail through Thonburi's canals (from ~1 hour), dock at the Royal Barges Museum and meet the golden swan fleet up close.
Learn it, don't just eat it — Morning market-to-wok cooking schools across the old town; evening Muay Thai fundamentals classes at gyms citywide. Both bookable same-day.
The weekend rhythm — Sat-Sun: Chatuchak's 15,000 stalls. Daily: Or Tor Kor. Golden hour: cross the river and watch Wat Arun light up.

Dates and tickets are managed by the venues and ticket platforms linked above; fixed weekly fixtures are listed here, moving dates on their live calendars.
