Wang Lang Market

วังหลัง

A food-market labyrinth feeding Thailand's oldest hospital — with a dark museum upstairs.

Jing ler? — no way

'Wang Lang' means 'the palace behind' — an 18th-century palace guarding Thonburi's rear flank once stood here. The palace is long gone; the name, and the best-value street food on the river, remain.

Jing ler? — no way

Next door, Siriraj Hospital — Thailand's oldest — runs the Siriraj Medical Museum, nicknamed the 'Museum of Death': forensic exhibits included the preserved body of 1950s serial killer Si Quey, displayed for 60 years until public campaigns won him a cremation in 2020.
