Democracy Monument

อนุสาวรีย์ประชาธิปไตย

A roundabout-sized cipher: every measurement encodes the date a revolution ended absolute monarchy.

Jing ler? — no way

The monument is a date you can walk around: four wings 24 m tall for the 24th of June 1932, 75 buried cannons for the year 2475 BE, and a central turret 3 m high — June was the 3rd month of the old Thai calendar.

Jing ler? — no way

It was designed by an Italian, Corrado Feroci, who later took Thai citizenship as Silpa Bhirasri and founded the country's first fine-arts university. Thais now call this Florentine sculptor 'the father of Thai modern art'.
